Nigerians react to the appointment of Festus Keyamo as President Buhari's spokesperson for the 2019 election

Today, Lagos lawyer and human rights activist, Festus Keyamo announced that he has appointed the Director, Strategic Communications for President Muhammadu Buhari’s 2019 Campaign.

The announcement was made in a letter sent to Keyamo which was signed by the organization's director general, Rotimi Amaechi. The letter reads;

Within minutes of his announcement, Festus Keyamo became a trending topic on social media as Nigerians express their disbelief, anger and some support...

I have nothing against Festus Keyamo, SAN. I am happy his hustle has paid off. But if you hold yourself out as a human rights lawyer, you can't accept the position of Spokesman for the campaign of a Govt famed for rights abuses. Light & darkness have nothing in common. Simple.

There was this great respect & expectation I used to give lawyers who become SAN, after seeing Festus Keyamo & his disdain for rule of law, his unguided statements & the summersault in his interpretation of the constitution, I shudder.
